Background:
Georgia recently joined Corban Revell to practise in our Maori/ Commercial team under John Kahukiwa. Previously, she worked at Kensington Swan’s Auckland offices as a solicitor in both their Maori legal services and environmental/ public law teams.
Specialisation:
Georgia's university study focused on Maori issues, comparative indigenous histories and sociology. She has a special interest in environmental, governance and constitutional issues arising under Te Tiriti o Waitangi and consequently, she is well placed to provide specialist advice for Maori clients in relation to local authority, Tribunal and Environment Court matters. Georgia’s primary experience to date has been in assisting and advocating for whanau, hapu and iwi groups who are preparing claims for the Waitangi Tribunal and submissions for Select Committee.
Georgia has also worked with major regional councils and territorial authorities on environmental, Public Works Act and governance issues, as well as advising corporate clients on due diligence reviews, planning and compliance, Building Act matters and resource consent/land use applications. She has assisted in the preparation of appeals at Council Committee Hearing level, Environment Court and for the Court of Appeal. She has appeared a number of times before Select Committee.
Outside CR:
Georgia is a member of the Resource Management Lawyers Association (NZ), and enjoys designing and making contemporary jewellery, organic gardening and cooking.
